Marvel Comics' first modern superhero success has been made into some very bad movies. The one coming up this summer has the chance to be much better, mostly by looking nothing like the comics it came from.

There's been a lot of discussion about the teaser for director Josh Trank's filmic reboot of the Fantastic Four, much of it focusing on how the dark and foreboding aesthetic seen in the clip. It reads more as a straight-up science-fliction movie and
less like a flashy superhero spectacle. That tonal difference is what intrigues me the most about what Trank might try to do with Fantastic Four.

The Future Of Video Games

Who knows what the future will be like? Um, video games do. In 2027, we'll never ask for cyborg limbs. In 2027, our Systems will be Shocked. In 2183 we'll punch space reporters, and in 2174 we'll wonder why Destiny still doesn't have a story.

Reader Norbert Demeter sent in this infographic he made, putting all the future locations of sci-fi game universes in a single timeline. We're in for a rough ride, and one that doesn't make much sense now, but if Nintendo can cram disparate events into
some kind of canon, I'm sure one of you can work the same magic here.

This isn't nationwide. But next month, Hokkaido Prefecture is rolling out "No Video Game Day." There won't be just one of these days, but two—and two every month.

NHK reports that among students nationwide, test scores are down in Hokkaido. It sounds like the PTA and the Hokkaido Board of Education are pinning the blame on video games. Which would incorrectly make the assumption that children in other parts of Japan are not playing lots of video games?

This morning, the web exploded with rumors that the next Resident Evil game will charge you to continue the game after death, thanks to reports from media outlets at a press event in Spain today.

"Capcom to charge money for continues in Resident Evil Revelations 2?" asked a NeoGAF thread. "They were just revealed at the Spanish presentation event. You have to pay to continue if they kill you mid-chapter, if not you have to start that chapter again from the start."

Hifumi Kono, creator of cult-classic horror game series Clock Tower, has partnered with film director Takashi Shimizu to launch a Kickstarter for horror game Project Scissors: NightCry. Shimizu is best known for directing horror film The Grudge, an adaptation of his Ju-on series.

After 20 years of waiting, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past graphic novel is being reprinted this May by publisher Viz Media.

The full-color adaptation is returning in a special single-volume edition under Viz Media's Perfect Square imprint. The comic by Shotaro Ishinomori (Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider) was first serialized in Nintendo Power magazine and then later compiled into a graphic novel in 1993.

Here's a cool thing: a new mod for Skyrim lets you wear armour and outfits as a full-blown disguise, allowing you swap sides and trick NPCs across the game world.

The mod is called Master of Disguise, and lets you "Suit up as a Dark Brotherhood assassin, a Madman of the Reach, or even a lowly necromancer and experience Tamriel as though their allies and enemies were yours".

Gearbox is ready to begin working on the next Borderlands game, the company announced during its final panel at PAX South today.

And that's not according to me, that's according to the Americam Dialect Society, who earlier this month held their 25th Word of the Year awards.

As the Wall Street Journal (via Daily Dot) report, "salty" was named as one of the winners of "Most Likely to Succeed", a kind of heads-up award for a word that they think will get more useful, and widespread, in the near future.
